Bright and Breezy
After the rubbish which blew through on Tuesday, it was quite nice to have sunshine on our backs for the outing this week. Though at times it did blow. Our group was standing on top of the hill on hole 10 when the wind was blowing at its strongest. Everyone put away the iron they thought they might need to reach the green and went for the 3 wood to get somewhere down the hill. But it was all good.
In the sixes, a lowly 29 points saw Brent, Browny, Vaughn and Alastair walk away smiling. There were some sad "if only" stories though. Senaka was lamenting their exploits on hole 1, the par 5. This week we had low handicapper big hitting Andrew Hobbs join the group. He was on the green for 2 and so had an eagle putt. Maybe Andrew got a little excited, got carried away and walked off with a bogey 6 after 4 putting the green. "We only lost by 1 point" lamented Senaka. These thing happen.
After the e-mail shenanigans this week where the age limits of baby boomers and Gen Xers was debated at length, we had a generous shout from the newly birthdayed boy Keith. Keith was 67 recently. Thanks for the generous shout Keith and congratulations from the team.
In the second set of sixes, Birthday boy Keith, David B, Bruce Carvell and Councillor Whiley scored 41 points to score some bacon. Finally, a very happy TK, Eddie, Lloyd and Neil cleaned out the rest with 48 points.
Our Weekly Winners
Taking the afternoon off for some much needed R and R, Brent scored line honours for the day. 40 points did the trick.
We have this picture many times on file but fun of the trip to Balclutha obviously never wears off. It helps when you can drive a few of the par 4s making them into long par 3s !! This is the 5th time this year Browny has taken home The Swingers Trophy !!
Wikipedia tells us Browny won 18 caps for the All Blacks. With 5 Balclutha trips this year and plenty in the previous years, Browny can't be far off having more Balclutha caps than All Blacks caps. We'll keep an eye on that one.......

In late breaking news I've had a text from Bruce Grant advising he's laid up in hospital for a few days while some problems are sorted out and some tests are done. I'm sure Bruce would love a text or message from you, and to Bruce and on behalf of the group, if there's anything you need doing and if there's anything we can do to help, just ask.
